Arsenal are to receive a double injury boost ahead of the Premier League clash with West Ham United at Upton Park on Sunday, with captain William Gallas and Kolo Toure due to return from injury to face the Hammers.
Ivory Coast International Toure injured his shoulder in the 3-1 win over Everton at the Emirates Stadium last Saturday and had to sit out the Gunners Champions League rout of Fenerbahce on Tuesday, while skipper Gallas missed both games with a hamstring injury.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has also revealed that right-back Bacary Sagna should be in contention to make his return for Arsenal in the North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday.
“It looks like Kolo Toure and William Gallas will be available while Sagna could be available for Wednesday,” Wenger told Arsenal TV Online.
Wenger also made clear what he meant when he said at the AGM earlier on Thursday that striker Eduardo was “three weeks away from playing competitive football’.
Wenger said: “What I mean by competitive football is joining in completely with a normal training session. After that he has to come back to match-fitness. But he is ahead of where we expected him to be and that is fantastic news.”
