Blackburn v Man United Premiership Preview: Ince Faces Former Boss – Tevez To Partner Berbatov, With Rooney Out For United

Blackburn Rovers take on Sir Alex Ferguson’s Premier League Champions Manchester United at Ewood Park on Saturday.

Rovers boss Paul Ince faces former manager Ferguson for the first time as a manager himself. The former United midfielder already starting to show the credentials of a good manager as Blackburn stand 7th in the Premiership and go into this clash on the back of two straight wins against Fulham and Newcastle.

Ferguson will be pleased that the Red Devils Premiership campaign has started to gather pace after a shaky start. United are in the bottom half of the table, but go into this match on the back of a 2-0 win at Old Trafford against Bolton Wanderers last weekend and a midweek Champions league win, which saw summer signing Dimitar Berbatov get off the mark with a brace for United.

Ince is unable to call on keeper Paul Robinson (calf) or David Dunn (shin), but Australian Vince Grella could be in contention if he can shake off a calf muscle strain. Jason Brown looks set to replace England International Robinson in goal, while Matt Derbyshire could partner Roque Santa Cruz upfront.

United will be missing Wayne Rooney (ankle) after he limped off in the midweek Champions League game, with Carlos Tevez likely to come in to partner Berbatov at Rovers. Ferguson is also without Paul Scholes (knee) and Michael Carrick (ankle) for the trip to Rovers.
