Spanish sports newspaper Marca has claimed that a top La Liga side are planning to swoop for Everton’s Spanish playmaker Mikel Arteta , but fail to name the Spanish team involved.
Marca are also claiming that 26-year-old Arteta has grown tired with life at Goodison Park and has resigned himself to the fact that he will not win any major trophies with the Toffees. It also states that the poor weather in Liverpool could play a part in Arteta leaving Merseyside.
La Liga club Atletico Madrid had been linked with a £12million offer for Arteta during the summer, but club president Jesus Garcia Pitarch eventually ruled out any move to bring the midfielder to the Vicente Calderon.
However, Arteta only signed a new five-year deal last summer with Everton and has always stated his desire to stay on the Blue half of Merseyside, with manager David Moyes known to see the Spaniard as a key part of his squad at Goodison and would be reluctant to let him leave for his homeland.
